Our Strategic Plan (2009-2014)

The sugar industry plays a significant role in socio-economic development of the Kenyan economy. The sector directly supports 200,000 small-scale farmers who supply over 85 percent of the cane milled by the sugar companies. An estimated six million Kenyans derive their livelihood directly or indirectly from the sugar industry.

Industry Strategic Plan

The Kenyan sugarcane industry is a major employer and contributor to the national economy. Sugarcane is one of the most important crops in the economy alongside tea, coffee, horticulture and maize. By far, the largest contribution of the sugarcane industry is its silent contribution to the fabric of communities and rural economies in the sugar belts.
